Hard times, but a fresh start.
The last few years have been very difficult for everyone, but trust me, I haven’t been dead. Travelling around Ontario, and especially Canada or even leaving Canada has been made rather difficult. Those of us who decided we’d wait and see what would happen with the various injections have been ridiculed, removed from our jobs, and banned from seeking further employment in certain fields. We’ve all become second class citizens in the country we love, and the country we once thought was free and safe. While our government prints more, and more money, depreciating the value of the cash in our pockets and bank accounts, and for what? I can’t see, personally, what we have achieved other than extending the inevitable for two or three years. It appears the clouds are starting to part, and the sun is starting to disinfect, and the information and misinformation is starting to separate as it should. This means for me, at least, that there’s some hope in this world. I can tell you one thing; though, I will not be trusting any sort of government agency for a very, very, long time.
March is with us once again. This is a changeable season, and we spend time drifting between snowstorms, rainstorms and spring-like weather. It is a difficult time for anyone wanting to do photography. As we reach mid month, I can smell the change in the air, even here in Scarborough. I can see the trees beginning to bud, more people walking around outside, and cast away their massive parkas for lighter clothing. The free floating anxiety that I’ve felt for the last two marches, is all but gone. I have big plans for this year, one of which is revisiting one of my favorite places - and challenging myself to go in there, on a trail that I should not be in fit shape for - but I have been limbering my muscles, dropping the pounds gained during the last two long dismal years. I will be going there, and I will be documenting the entire experience. In writing, in photography, and most likely in video. Watch this space.
